The fundamental phases in genetic engineering include identifying a trait, isolating that trait, and the inserting that trait into the desired organism. In other words, it’s about the gene you want to transfer and put into the new organism. A vector is often used to carry the gene into target cells. I think the most challenging part in this process is the isolation phase. Physically isolating the gene is not easy, thus restriction enzymes are used to assistant. The recognition of the sequences in the DNA is vital.
There is much separation surrounding GMO’s. Those who are believe in the process assert that they are safe and could potentially be beneficial for human development and the environment. While, those who are negative on the subject preach the risks and the consequences on the environment. After hearing both sides, you could see that GMO’s lack facts, and don’t provide real evidence to support either supporters claims. Some believe if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. Whereas some believe in the necessity for technological and scientific enhancement to keep up with times. This is an important issue because of its potential damage and effect on other organisms. I believe the spread of newly adapted GMO genes can spread onto plans or animals. There is unintended selection with this stuff.

In all we just don’t know. GMOs may pose a safety concern but there have been cool enhancements which may pose the world to pose the question, is there more to be discovered. Hopefully we learn about the potential GMO’s have with further research conducted. From my point of view, I think the world is all about exploring, but only for the right reasons. I think there is a bright future in GMO’s and it can pave the way for many advancements. I understand why there is much controversy, people believe in different things, it resembles religion in my point of view. There’s different beliefs and ways to go about things in this world. All things considered, there’s positives and negatives that can happen, but the importance of this topic is rising.
